Happy Friday!

Happy weekend!

Happy three day weekend if you are so lucky!!

Friday Faves 2/3

Favorite thing I learned how to do this week:

Take a screen shot of my phone. I did it on accident, had no idea how I did it, then I googled it, and what do you know? SUPER easy. *palm to fiveforehead*

This was the accident:

and this one was on purpose once I figured out how to do it:

and yes, Justin Timberlake and I are besties. And no it didn’t take me 44 minutes to figure out how to do it. I was at work.

Fave song I’m listening to at the gym:

‘Til Death by Wynter Gordan.

I get so excited and giddy when this song comes on. Resisting the urge to just put it on repeat and have it play the whole time. Maybe I shouldn’t resist. Is that weird to do that?

Fave blogger:

Gina from Running to the Kitchen

She has the BEST recipes and she is super funny in a subtle sort of way that I totally get. Love it. Love her food. Love her pics. Love it ALL!

Fave thing I spy in my room that is a b-day present, but I haven’t had the time to open all the way and get started playing with yet:

Fave thing I did this week:

Taught my first class at BC! I am teaching Performance Management and Employee Relations. Fancy huh? I have about 20 students and we have class every Wed for four weeks. It was a great time and I think the students got a lot out of it. Can’t wait for next week!

* I just read my first session reviews and almost teared up at what the students had to say. Its so humbling to be recognized for something you love and are passionate about. I am feeling very blessed.

This one is my favorite:

I guess they just couldn’t commit?

Favorite transformation:

Favorite lesson I was reminded of exactly when I needed it:

We live on the wrong side of heaven. This world is not our home. It is a broken place filled with unspeakable pain and crushed dreams. Even so, we can live in this foreign land for a while – with joy — knowing that home is waiting, celebrating here because of what we have there. “The Message” translates the words of Paul in Philippians 4:4 this way, “Celebrate God all day, every day. Revel in him!” I love it! Paul is calling us to party!  That’s right! We are to celebrate God every minute of every day for as many days as we have. “Revel” literally means “to party, to raise the roof” or, as my Mama used to say, “paint the town red.” Every day we have a choice to make when it comes to our perspective on life. That choice then determines our attitudes which then lead to the actions that determine success or failure and the quality with which we live and serve.

Paul is serious about joy, and his instructions are clear. We are to be joyful – always.  I know that many times, life makes it impossible to be happy but happiness is not what Paul is talking about. Happiness is a cheap imitation of true joy, depending totally upon man-made circumstances, while joy is an inside job and depends totally upon God’s presence in the midst of those circumstances.  Nehemiah 8:10 reminds us that “the joy you have in the LORD is your strength” (GWT).  Remember that joy is not a feeling but rather a chosen perspective that recognizes the fact that God is in control. I am not talking about the power of positive thinking. I am talking about a real, honest-to-goodness transformation of the perspective from which we live. I’m talking about the power of God, active and present in every circumstance. Don’t settle for Pharisaical religion or slot-filling, box-checking church activity. Settle for nothing less than the unexplainable but undeniable power of God’s presence at work in your life.

Favorite thing I made for dinner:

Creamy Potato Soup

Recipe modified from here.

About a bag and a half of small red potatoes (just gauged how many I thought the three of us could eat)
3 (14.5oz) cans chicken broth
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 Tbsp minced onion flakes
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp salt
3 celery stalks cut up into small pieces

1 (8oz) package cream cheese (I used light)

In a crockpot, combine everything except for the cream cheese. Cook for about 5 hours on low. About 15 minutes before serving, add cream cheese. Stir until melted and thoroughly combined. Serve with cheese, sour cream, bacon bits, green onions.

what were some of your favorites from this week?

would you rate me a 4 or 5? or in between? hehe

Friday Favorites 1/27

Didn’t have a FF last week due the the snopocalypse and this has been a slow week, so only a few to share…but I have a survey coming up later that has some fun stuff in it too so all together…good times.

Favorite salad this week:

Thai cruch salad from CPK (California Pizza Kitchen) In the words of Rachel Ray, YUM-O!

Favorite new salad dressing: (I am detecting a theme here…)

You have to REALLY like cilantro to like this, b/c it basically makes your whole salad taste like cilantro which is A-OK in my book.

Favorite guilty pleasure:

I think these went away for a while and they are making them again? I feel like I didnt see them in the store in For.Ev.Er and then all of a sudden, like a beautiful gift from God, they were there staring at me from the frozen food aisle of Wally World. I think there was even a light beaming on them. Ok maybe not but that is what it seemed like at the time.

Favorite blogger:

Kristen from Confessions of a (not so domesticated) newlywed. She posts helpful information, great recipes and just seems like an overall really cool gal. I always look forward to her posts!

Favorite way to end the day after a REALLY hard day at work:

Kyle even joined in since he had such a hard day at school.

J/K. He had some cran/grape juice and got a big kick out of the fact that it was the exact same color as our Mimbres Red. So he haaaad to go get a fancy glass so he could be fancy like us. Funny kid.

Favorite thing I read in an email:

Each and every one of us was born with a nature that loves to rebel and feed a natural “bent” toward selfish, wrong choices. However, when we come to Christ, we receive a new nature that naturally desires to obey God. The result is internal civil war. The Apostle Paul struggled with sin just like we do today. In his letter to the church at Rome, Paul describes his frustration with his own sin: “I don’t understand myself at all, for I really want to do what is right, but I don’t do it.  Instead, I do the very thing I hate” (Romans 7:15, NLT). Sound familiar? I will never forget the first time I read those ardent words written by this zealous man of God. I was so relieved! It sometimes seems as if I am the only believer engaged in major battles with sin. Paul’s words, however, assure me that I am not in this battle alone. Neither are you, girlfriend. The reality is that as long as we live in this broken and fallen world, our sinful nature and our God nature will constantly be at war.

This was from a daily newsletter that I get and it really spoke to me and provided me comfort.

Favorite dog pic:

Chloe decided to join me again for some evening work I had to get caught up on. She is ON the dining room table, ON my laptop bag. NO IDEA how she got situated there. 😉

Favorite Sermon:  Incarnation and Implication

“There should be no such thing as an arrogant Christian. An arrogant, judgmental, boasting Christian simply reveals that he doesn’t understand his own faith. We all once walked among them. We have all fallen short of the glory of God. There is none who are righteous. There is no one who does good. We read a couple of weeks ago that we all, like sheep, have gone astray. There isn’t anyone in here who has a résumé who God is interested in hiring.”

Favorite Sermon: Gospel Centered Worship

John 4:6

Three barriers to worship
1) Digging in the wrong wells- making “stuff”, money, comfort, relationships, sex, respect and success our gods instead of going to Him, the eternally satisfying well
2)Unconfessed, unrepentant sin in your life
“Why is this such a big deal?  Because you were created to worship and without worshiping Jesus, you will be worshiping something, but whatever that something is will not be able to hold up under the weight of your expectations of it.  So to repent and confess is to violently pursue our own joy and the glory of God”
3) Ignorance- you can’t worship what you don’t know
” So what has happened is we’ve been allowed to create in our own minds our version of Jesus that we worship.  And worship always suffers when man is exalted and God is belittled.  Worship explodes from this reality: you are a rebellious, wicked, sinner and God has loved you in Christ.  There are no secrets from Him, and yet still He pursued and saved you.”
